Who We Are TodayWe are a church with a rich history. We continue to see ourselves as socially and theologically progressive, diverse, engaging, encouraging, and striving to be a biblical, spiritual and caring fellowship. As someone said in a recent envisioning group, “We want to be passionate about Jesus Christ and compassionate for others.”
Second Baptist has a rich tradition of encouraging spiritual freedom and growth and responsive action as led by study, reflection and spiritual discernment.
We are an active congregation with virtually everyone contributing in some way to the life and work of the church. We enjoy one another as a church family. We have a solid base that is ready for continuing change and growth and service. Women, men, boys and girls are encouraged to participate fully in our life together.
Vision: Connections for Life
Our vision of Second Baptist Church is a congregation dedicated to living a life, individual and corporate, connected in every way to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Second Baptist shall create and enhance our connection with God, our connections within our congregation, and our connections with the community around us. Taking these together, then, we seek to build Connections for Life. These connections will enable our individual and collective ministry to be alive in each of us through an intentional link between our church life and our daily life.
