CHRISTMAS “LESSONS AND CAROLS” SERVICE AND CHRISTMAS EVE CANDLELIGHT SERVICE
at SECOND BAPTIST CHURCH , St. Louis
A Christmas “Lessons and Carols” service featuring Christmas music by the Second Baptist Church Choir and musicians will be presented this Sunday, December 21, at 10:30 am in the Sanctuary of the Beatitudes of Second Baptist Church. The church is located at the corner of McKnight and Clayton Roads, just ½ mile north of the new Highway 40 McKnight Road interchange.
The choir and musicians will be presenting:
Advent Alleluia by Keith Christopher
O Magnum Mysterium by Morten Lauridsen
Gesu Bambino by Martens and Yon, Bill Gurley, soloist
The Midnight Clear by Sears and Raney with handbells performed by Mary and Nathan Winter
What Cheer? by Hill and Walton
The choir is directed by Brad Short and the organist and pianist is Marilyn Short. Dr. Stephen Jones, pastor of Second Baptist Church , will speak briefly on “Moving through Dislocation” based on Luke 1:39 and Luke 2:1-5. The service is open to the public.
The church’s annual Christmas Eve Candlelight Service will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 5:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary of the Beatitudes with music by the choir. Dr. Stephen Jones will speak on “Birthing Moments.” The service will conclude around 6:00 p.m. with a candlelight service.
